The installation of a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) in a large warehouse with office spaces addressed a critical issue: the difficulty of external cellular signals to penetrate the building’s metal and concrete structure. This structural challenge resulted in poor cellular voice and data coverage within both the warehouse floor and the office areas, hindering effective communication and operational efficiency. The client’s requirement was clear – a robust cellular connectivity solution that could function independently, without relying on the existing data network. This stand-alone solution was essential to ensure uninterrupted communication for both the warehouse operations and the administrative functions in the office areas.
To meet these needs, the DAS installation involved the strategic placement of a series of low-power antennas throughout the warehouse and office spaces. These antennas were carefully positioned to overcome the signal-blocking characteristics of the building’s construction, ensuring comprehensive coverage across both the expansive warehouse floor and the enclosed office spaces. The antennas were connected to a central control unit, which then interfaced with the external cellular network. This setup facilitated a significant improvement in both voice and data signal strength and reliability, independent of any internal data networks. The implementation of this DAS solution effectively resolved the connectivity issues, enabling seamless cellular communication across the entire facility. This enhancement not only improved the day-to-day operations of the warehouse but also bolstered the overall productivity and communication efficiency within the office areas.
