In response to the growing need for reliable cellular coverage, a hotel hired Konecta USA to install a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to enhance the cellular connectivity within its premises. The hotel, known for hosting various events such as conferences, weddings, and corporate gatherings, frequently encountered issues with cellular reception, especially in its meeting rooms, ballrooms, and guest rooms. These problems were particularly pronounced during large events when the existing Wi-Fi network was heavily burdened by the high demand from both guests and staff. This not only affected the quality of service offered to the guests but also impeded the hotel staff’s ability to communicate effectively and coordinate operations. Recognizing the necessity of a robust stand-alone cellular solution, the hotel management decided to invest in a DAS to ensure seamless cellular connectivity independent of the Wi-Fi network.
The DAS installation involved deploying a network of small, low-profile antennas throughout the hotel, specifically targeting areas with historically poor reception such as the interiors of ballrooms and meeting rooms, as well as the guest rooms. These antennas were connected to a central control unit, which was in turn linked to an external cellular network. This setup allowed for a more evenly distributed and stronger cellular signal throughout the hotel, alleviating the load on the Wi-Fi network during high-demand periods. The result was a significant improvement in cellular reception and data speeds, leading to heightened guest satisfaction and more efficient staff communication during events. The DAS also proved to be scalable, allowing for adjustments and expansions in response to the hotel’s evolving needs, thereby future-proofing the investment. The successful implementation of the DAS underscored its critical role in modern hospitality, ensuring that both guests and staff had access to reliable and high-quality cellular service at all times.
